- On Friday, February 21st, the Louisiana Board of Commerce and Industry will consider a request from Folgers Coffee to be exempted from Orleans Parish property taxes on $80 million of its business property.
- The exemption, if approved, would cost New Orleans schools and other city services $12.4 million in lost revenue over the next 10 years.
- The project for which Folgers is seeking an "incentive" (in 2020) already went under construction in the Fall of 2019.
- Folgers is asking for $12.4 million in public subsidies to create 5 jobs -- $2.5 million in tax-payer funds per job
