Community Solar
Community Solar allows residents to subscribe to solar panels installed anywhere in the city to reduce their electricity bills.
Overhauling Regulations to Serve Families
New Orleans has the third highest energy costs in the country. In 2018, the City Council launched a Community Solar program to help residents—especially renters—save on their bills and access clean energy. But the program stalled due to restrictive rules.
Together New Orleans stepped in. We commissioned two studies and partnered with Councilmembers to fix the problem. In October 2023, a Council committee unanimously passed new rules to make the program work.
Now, Community Solar is finally within reach. Residents will be able to subscribe and save up to 20% on their electricity bills—no rooftop panels required.
