COST OF LIVING
#1) LOWER OUR ENERGY BILLS
Expand Community Solar to deliver 20% monthly savings to all, including renters; overhaul Energy Efficiency Programs to lower usage and end “ghost charges”; and oppose any increase in gas rates.#2) ENDORSE A UNIVERSAL BASIC HOME INSURANCE PLAN
Support a state program providing universal, affordable coverage on the first $175,000 in home value, with private insurers covering values above that.#3) BAN TRAFFIC CAMERAS
Prohibit the use of traffic cameras in issuing tickets in Orleans Parish. -
PUBLIC WORKS
#4) ESTABLISH TIME-TO-C6MPLETION & QUALITY BENCHMARKS IN ALL PUBLIC WORKS CONTRACTS
Set clear, enforceable deadlines with financial penalties for delays or non-performance.#5) ENSURE PROMPT PAYMENT TO CONTRACTORS
Require payment within 30 days of verified invoice submission.#6) UNIFY CAPITAL PLANNING ACROSS AGENCIES
Coordinate planning and implementation for capital projects across Public Works, Sewerage & Water Board, and all utilities (Entergy, Delta, Cox, AT&T). -
JOBS
#7) CREATE A PUBLIC WORKS RAPID RESPONSE TEAM
Rebuild the City’s internal workforce by hiring skilled personnel directly and creating an Emergency & Small Projects Response Team for faster, more reliable service response.#8) REQUIRE LOCAL HIRING, APPRENTICESHIPS & PREVAILING WAGES ON ALL CITY CONTRACTS
Require that all City and utility contracts — including Public Works, Entergy, Delta, and others — include local hiring, enforce apprenticeship ratios, and apply prevailing wage and labor standards for all contractors and subcontractors. -
NEIGHBORHOOD POWER PLAN
#9) DEPLOY A CITYWIDE VIRTUAL POWER PLANT TO PROTECT US FROM OUTAGES, SAVE MONEY & STRENGTHEN OUR GRID
Adopt and fund the Neighborhood Power Plan, as proposed by TNO and the Alliance for Affordable Energy, to install batteries and solar at 250 community sites and 1,800 homes—creating a 30 MW Virtual Power Plant that protects our most vulnerable, keeps power on during outages, and provides the local power New Orleans needs to avoid being cut off from the grid.
